Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition VISUAL ARTS Take in a collection of the artist’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced in a format that allows viewers to get face to face with the masterpieces. RiverFare FOOD & DRINK The Connecticut River Museum hosts its annual gourmet food- and drink-tasting event on the museum’s riverfront lawn. Kiss My Aztec! THEATER From John Leguizamo and director Tony Taccone comes an irreverent new musical (very) loosely based on Latin American history. Travel back to the 16th century as a group of Aztecs lead the resistance against Spanish invaders, in a show featuring a musical fusion of salsa, gospel, hip-hop, funk and meringue. Comedian Chris Rock will appear at Mohegan Sun on June 3.

The Mighty Soul Drivers MUSIC New Britain Museum of American Art’s signature social event features live music, art, food and spirits. PrideFEST FESTIVAL The fourth annual Middletown PrideFEST kicks off with a Pride March at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Spring and Main streets. A rally on the South Green will follow from 4–6:30 p.m., bringing together local activists and performers to advocate for equality, and the day concludes with a concert on the South Green from 7–10 p.m.

“Gardens by the Sea” WALKING TOUR The Stonington Garden Club offers a look at rarely seen private gardens in the Borough of Stonington. Visitors will explore a variety of gardens from formal perennial plantings to intimate pocket gardens, from flowering borders to grassy seaside vistas overlooking Stonington Harbor. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. each day. Lyme Art Association exhibitions VISUAL ARTS One of three exhibitions, Ship to Shore: A Maritime Show celebrates all aspects of sea and shoreline life in a broad range of styles and mediums including paintings, prints and sculptures. The Connecticut Pastel Society also presents Renaissance in Pastel which includes the finest pastel work from member artists. The final concurrent exhibit, Water All Around Us, features young artists’ work that is inspired by nearby bodies of water. Free; donations appreciated. 30 Americans VISUAL ARTS Telling the story of Black humanity through the gaze of contemporary Black artists, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mickalene Thomas, Kara Walker, Hank Willis Thomas and Kehinde Wiley, this new exhibition is drawn from the acclaimed Rubell Museum in Miami. Dating from the 1970s to the 2000s, the extensive group of paintings, drawings, collages, photography, portraiture, sculptures, installations and performance artwork addresses more than 200 years of American history and considers the influence of artistic legacy and community across generations. Spring Hill Arts Gathering VISUAL ARTS & MUSIC The celebration of art, music and community is back in the natural Northwest Hills setting of Spring Hill Vineyards. The site’s expanding permanent art collection is complemented by a site-specific stone amphitheater built into a hill, a historic grain silo re-imagined by artist Randy Polumbo as a psychedelic immersion, and a soaring modern barn made completely of reclaimed wood and additional fixtures crafted by Polumbo. Music headliners Grateful Shred and Cautious Clay are joined by Lido Pimienta, BJ The Chicago Kid, Abraham Alexander, Raye Zaragoza and Nat Myers. $25, $65 for the weekend. Travelers Championship golf tournament SPORTS If this year’s Travelers is anything like last year’s tournament, which culminated with an eight-hole, sudden-death playoff that went so long it was threatened by darkness, golf fans are in for a real treat. More than 150 of the top golfers in the world will converge on Cromwell to claim the $8.3 million purse. Among them will be Harris English, who prevailed over Kramer Hickok in 2021’s epic, back-and-forth clash. Other big-name commits include Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson.
